i remember
-Pat Owens-
I remember how I would follow you around
When I was just a small boy with a lot left to learn
And I'd screw things up, but you were never to stern
You'd just teach me again, then let me move on
I remember when my classes began
And you waking up early to drive me to school
Other kids took the bus or they rode in carpools
But you'd take the time to see the trip through
Now years have gone by, but nothing has changed
The learning and guidance, they both still remain
You still teach me things that I just can't do
You still take the time to see the trip through
I remember where you stood all those years
Spending all of your time in the kitchen alone
You'd have dinner ready before we got home
Feeding your kids right up 'til we were grown
Now it's down to tonight and you're still by my side
Dancing with me but you're watching your toes
I know I don't dance much and I know that it shows
I just wish you would lead and teach me how it goes
