she thinks of leaving

-Pat Owens-

That business suit could only take her so far
And those blue collar roots, she held so close to her heart
Years and years of hard work have led her to this
A full-time job and a house full of kids
The relationship ain't what she expects
She puts in her half, but he takes all he gets
Spends his days at the office, his nights at the bar
She sits home all night while he never calls

She thinks of leaving, it crosses her mind
He should have realized it was a matter of time
But she knows if she goes she'll let down the ones that she loves
She thinks of leaving, but the time never comes

He suspects something but she won't give in
She's tried to hold on through thick and through thin
It's so hard to accuse her when he looks in her eyes
But it's so hard not to when he hears all her lies
She's been calling to check in, she's been getting home late
He's been asking her questions, she won't take the bait
"Where were you last night? What took you so long?"
She keeps telling stories, but she knows that it's wrong
